Morning Presentation

“Planned Giving: You Only Live Once – And, Then…Well..”

Holland Dunn is a Senior Vice President and Philanthropic Strategist for the National Consulting and Advisory Practice at Bank of America Private Bank. In this role, Holland provides counsel to individuals, families, and institutions, adeptly translating closely held values into effective strategies and mission advancement. Holland creates tailored pathways of meaningful and impactful engagement, ensuring the efficient and effective allocation of resources through research- informed practices, evidence-based evaluation, and collaborative enterprises. 

For over two decades, Holland has served at the intersection of philanthropy and public policy in executive leadership roles and as a principal advisor to leading private philanthropists. Most recently, she led consulting engagements with nationally-recognized organizations, including Open Society Foundations, Charles Koch Institute, and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Holland’s expertise spans the broad sectors of public policy, including public health, poverty alleviation, community development, human rights, biomedical research, criminal justice, conservation, arts & culture, and education. In addition, Holland brings deep domestic and international field experience, including international trade, national health and education focused initiatives, and regional disaster relief and recovery efforts. Holland has garnered national attention, including NIH support, for her work advancing locally-identified solutions in “last mile” and other communities overlooked by traditional philanthropy through coalition building, grassroots outreach and advocacy, and public-private partnerships. Holland provides a range of comprehensive services to clients, from due diligence, program design and implementation to high impact grantmaking, institutional advancement, and capacity building. Holland’s career is marked not only by its breadth and depth, but also her passion and proficiency curating and launching innovative public collaborations to identify, catalyze, and scale public innovation and social development. 

Holland’s work has taken her across the United States, Israel, Central America, and Southeast Asia. She is an active community member, committed volunteer, and devoted champion of the social sector, from local art institutions to international justice organizations. In addition, Holland serves as a mentor to several national and international organizations and a long-term Board Member with Save the Children International’s Professional Council. Holland attended University of Georgia for her B.A. in Journalism & Mass Communications, earning the distinction of Presidential Scholar, and Harvard University for her Masters in Government.

"Cross-Border Grantmaking: Context and Considerations"

Brooks Reed, CAP®, Vice President of Thought Leadership & Philanthropy, CAF America
Brooks Reed has worked with the CAF Group in a variety of roles since October 2015, when he was a co-author on the report titled Beyond Integrity: Exploring the role of business in preserving the civil society space (Charities Aid Foundation, 2016). Brooks has worked with the CAF Group in a variety of roles since October 2015, officially joining CAF America in 2017 to lead the Department of Business Development. Brooks has served as the Vice President of Thought Leadership and Philanthropy since 2023.

His background is in international development, with research interests focusing on the private sector in development and corporate citizenship. His professional experience outside of CAF America includes time with international NGOs and within the Executive Office of the Governor of Florida.

He holds a MSc in Development Management from the London School of Economics, as well as a BA in International Affairs and a BA in Political Science from Florida State University. He is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) and certified in Anti-Money Laundering by the Society of Tax and Estate Professionals (STEP).
